Dear Instructors and Advisors,

We are pleased to announce several new features being added to your Dashboard menu (opening screen) in the Student Information System (SIS), starting the week of February 7, 2022.

  1. Class Roster will allow you to view the list of students currently enrolled in your class and correspond with them via email. You will have the ability to email a specific student or all students. Additionally, you will be able to view the waitlist and the list of students who have dropped your class.
  2. Class Permissions is not a new feature in SIS, but, starting the week of February 7, you will no longer access your Class Permissions through your SIS Faculty Center. To access your Class Permissions, you will go to the SIS Dashboard and click on Class Roster. You can use Class Permissions to grant a student ad-hoc permission to enroll in your class and to view permission requests if your class requires students to obtain your permission before enrolling.
  3. Grade Roster will allow you to view grades for students in classes from previous terms and to enter grades for the current term, once a grade roster has been created by UREG. You will still be able to submit grades directly from UVACollab for automatic approval in SIS, but you can also use Grade Roster in your Dashboard menu to manually submit and approve grades in SIS.
  4. View Advisees will allow you to see academic information for your advisees as the students see it in SIS (which can help in advising sessions). This includes reviewing their academic requirements through the new Degree Progress report (being added for students the week of February 7) or the classic Academic Requirements report.

The new Degree Progress report, which students will see in their SIS Dashboard menu the week of February 7, provides an updated, user-friendly format for viewing academic requirement information and more clearly displays information to help students identify and enroll in courses that will satisfy outstanding degree requirements.

We’ll send you another email the week of February 7 once the new features are available. See the image below for a sneak peek of what you can expect.

We’re grateful to our colleagues in ITS SIS for their ongoing efforts to improve the functionality and usability of SIS. Please let us know if you have questions or concerns about the upcoming improvements.

Kind Regards,

Office of the University Registrar
