Dear Instructors and Advisors,

We are pleased to announce several new features are now available on your Dashboard menu (opening screen) in the Student Information System (SIS).

Class Roster allows you to view the list of students currently enrolled in your class and correspond with them via email. You have the ability to email a specific student or all students. Additionally, you will be able to view students who are on the waitlist and those who have dropped your class.

Class Permissions is now accessed through Class Roster. You can use Class Permissions to grant a student ad-hoc permission to enroll in your class. If you’ve set up your class to require instructor permission before students can enroll, you’ll go to Class Roster to manage those requests as well.

Grade Roster allows you to view grades for students in classes from previous terms and to enter grades at the end of the current term. You will still be able to submit grades directly from UVACollab for automatic approval in SIS, but you can also use Grade Roster in your Dashboard menu to manually submit and approve final class grades.

For additional resources on class roster, class permissions, and grade roster in SIS, please see For Instructors: SIS FAQs in the SIS Help Center.

In addition, students can now use the Degree Progress report that has been added to their SIS dashboard menu. This new functionality provides an updated, user-friendly format for viewing academic requirement information and more clearly displays information to help students identify and enroll in courses that satisfy outstanding degree requirements.

Another new item in your SIS Dashboard menu, View Advisees, allows you to see academic information for your advisees as the students see it in SIS (which can help in advising sessions). This includes reviewing their academic requirements through the new Degree Progress report or the classic Academic Requirements report. For additional resources on SIS advising, please see For Advisors: SIS Advising in the SIS Help Center

We’re grateful to our colleagues in ITS SIS for their ongoing efforts to improve the functionality and usability of SIS. Please let us know if you have questions or concerns about the new improvements.

Kind Regards,

Office of the University Registrar
