Dear Undergraduate Student,

Thank you for your resilience, perseverance, and patience throughout the last year as we have navigated through the impacts of COVID-19. We are very hopeful there are better days ahead and are looking forward to welcoming all of our students back in the fall.

I write to remind you of several key pieces of information regarding fall course enrollment. As University leaders have announced, we are looking forward to an in-person residential and educational experience for the fall semester.

When you search for classes in SIS for fall, you will notice that most of the courses have not yet been assigned a classroom. We are currently planning for classes to be held in-person. We expect the CDC and State of Virginia to release updated safety guidelines to allow us to return classrooms to normal pre-COVID capacities. These revised guidelines could impact instruction mode for some classes. We will continue to update course information (classroom location, instruction mode, etc.) throughout the summer as we learn more about what parameters and restrictions might be in place for fall.

Undergraduate fall enrollment begins the week of May 18. We encourage you to continue to check your fall course schedule throughout the summer as more course details become available. Once your enrollment appointment begins, you will be able to make course enrollment changes until the Add deadline in the fall.

If you still have an advisor hold on your SIS account, please contact your advisor to arrange an advising appointment. You will not be able to enroll in classes for the fall until the advisor hold is removed.

If you have any questions or concerns about fall enrollment, please contact us at [email protected].

We wish you a safe and healthy summer and look forward to seeing you in the fall.

Kind regards,

Laura F. Hawthorne
